Attention Shoppers: Airwavz Adds Coverage and Capacity to Memorial City Mall

Case Study: Memorial City Mall

Memorial City Mall is a 1.7-million-square foot shopping mall in Memorial City Houston, Texas. It is located between The Westin Houston, Memorial City Hotel and Memorial City Hospital in West Houston, TX. With 200 stores, 5 anchor tenants, restaurants, an ice rink and an outdoor events area, Memorial City Mall is bustling with local and out-of-town shoppers and families looking for entertainment.

Overview

Premier stores, lively dining and great entertainment are what make Memorial City Mall a destination site. Heavy daily foot traffic contributes to the massive amount of data generated from guests’ use of their mobile devices. Keeping guests ‘connected’ while at the Mall enhances the guests’ experience – which is why Memorial City Mall turned to Airwavz and its advanced wireless platform solutions.

Our Solutions

Airwavz immediately detailed out a shopping list to add coverage and capacity to the Memorial City Mall’s indoor public spaces and outdoor event space (The Square) and parking areas. Once compiled, Airwavz went to work designing, developing and deploying its advanced wireless infrastructure-as-a-service platform. Airwavz teamed up with three major service providers to deliver wireless service ensuring that Memorial City Mall guests can enjoy ‘always-available’ mobile connectivity no matter where or what they are doing during their visit. Only after completing the project in 3 months’ time, did the Ariwavz team enjoy the shopping, dining and entertainment that the Memorial City Mall has to offer.

The primary objective for the Memorial City Mall was to provide high-performance, high-quality wireless services to meet the demanding needs of mall shoppers and entertainment enthusiasts inside and outside of the Mall. The system was design with Multiple Input, Multiple Output or MIMO antenna systems to provide the maximum possible throughput.  Airwavz’s customized solution included a new fiber-optic cable from a centralized Radio Access Network (C-RAN) facility to the site that supported an in-building and outdoor Distributed Antenna System (DAS).
